Threats To The Endangered Species Act Will Not Stand!

The Endangered Species Act is one of the bedrock laws of our nation, credited with restoring robust populations of numerous species once on the brink of extinction.  This list includes species we now consider to be abundant, such as Bald eagles, Canada geese, and the American alligator. The National Wildlife Refuge Association opposes any efforts by the Department of the Interior or the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to change their interpretation of this law without any public input.

“If the Administration wants to change the way the ESA is interpreted, they must open a public comment period to hear from users of the Refuge System and our nation’s other public lands on the effect of these rule changes,” said Geoffrey L. Haskett, President of the National Wildlife Refuge Association. “We will not stand by while this law is gutted by administrative action or secretarial order.
